If You’re Here,
Something Unthinkable Has Happened

The sudden, unexpected, or traumatic death of someone you love doesn't just break your heart, it changes everything. One moment, you’re busy living life. The next, nothing feels safe or recognizable.

You find yourself going through the motions, barely able to breathe, unsure how you will keep going. Some days you manage.
Other days even the simplest tasks feel overwhelming, and you don’t want to get out of bed.

Nights are long and unbearable, sleep does not come easily, and you’re constantly haunted with painful memories, disturbing thoughts, or feelings of guilt, remorse, or regret.

On the outside, you look “okay.”
But inside, you’re drowning in pain and silently screaming because no one sees the depths of your grief or truly understands. You hesitate to explain because there are no words big enough to describe your devastation.

This isn’t just grief.
It’s trauma and grief.
And everything has changed in your world.

Family and friends offer kind words or well-meaning advice, but most don’t truly understand what you're living through. Others avoid you, unsure of what to do or say.

Society and traditional grief support frequently fall short when it comes to traumatic loss.
They don’t know how time distorts. How meaning disappears.
They don’t know how to address your chaos, shock, overwhelming emotions, symptoms, grief, pain, and fear.
They don’t know how to support you in your chaos, shock, overwhelming emotions, grief, pain, or fear.

Despite the unthinkable
You are here...
Ready to manage one of the most catastrophic events of your life.

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
You’ve found a safe place.
You can get the help you need.

A course for the kind of grief that changes everything, The Traumatic Loss Companion Course is for navigating the disorienting, life-altering pain that follows a sudden, unexpected, devastating death. This isn’t just grief—it’s trauma and grief intertwined. Complex. Overwhelming. And often misunderstood by others.

Created by nationally recognized grief and trauma expert, Dr. Jennifer R. Levin, LMFT this self-paced online video course compliments the chapters in her book, The Traumatic Loss Workbook: Powerful Skills for Navigating the Grief Caused by a Sudden or Unexpected Death.

This is an opportunity to have a personalized guide to companion with you through the workbook. With warmth and clarity, Dr. Levin breaks down each concept in the workbook, offering additional support, explanation, and visual demonstrations of key techniques that help manage your pain, process your trauma, and find your way forward.

You will also have an opportunity to interact with Dr. Levin and a supportive community. Each month, you’ll be invited to join a live community call, a safe space to ask questions, share, and connect with others who understand what you’re going through.

What You’ll Receive:

  • 12 self-paced modules, each featuring 2–3 supportive videos, with over 15 hours of content, that align with the chapters of The Traumatic Loss Workbook

How the Companion Course Works

Module 1 will be available starting August 1, 2025, to watch at your convenience.

To help you absorb and engage with the material at a manageable pace, a new module will be released each week for the following 11 weeks.

Live community calls take place the second Wednesday of each month via zoom from 4:00-5:30pm Pacific Time.

This gradual release schedule allows time to reflect, practice the techniques, and move through your healing process with intention and support.

Course Content

The Traumatic Loss Companion Course follows the structure of The Traumatic Loss Workbook, with each module aligned to a corresponding chapter. However, this is not a simple recap. Each video module offers deeper explanations of key concepts, introduces new material not found in the workbook, and expands on ideas that are often difficult to absorb through reading alone. Dr. Levin guides you through each topic with clarity and compassion, bringing the material to life by visually demonstrating techniques and skills designed to help you regulate your emotions, manage overwhelm, and process the trauma of loss. This course is an immersive and supportive extension of the workbook, offering a more comprehensive and embodied learning experience.

Below is an outline of the course modules with a detailed outline of Module One.
