Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (MFC 45284)
Challenges can occur in our lives that make it hard for us to function. Therapy can help us resolve concerns and feel better. Emphasizing solutions, my goal is to help you uncover your potential and make the most out of your life and relationships. While we can’t change the past, we can work to better understand it with focus on lessons-learned in the present. By applying therapeutic approaches and techniques, we will unnerve destructive perceptions and behavior patterns that may be keeping you from getting what you want.
I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with an eclectic theoretical orientation primarily comprised of family systems, solution-focused, & cognitive/behavioral approaches. I earned my Masters degree in Counseling emphasizing multicultural competency from San Diego State University & a Bachelors degree in Psychology / Social Behavior from University of California, Irvine. I trained primarily at two non-profit family development agencies in Southern California treating individuals, couples & families afflicted with Domestic Violence and custodial & co-parenting conflict. I also have work experience counseling grieving families who unexpectedly lost a loved one who became an organ or tissue donor to save or enhance the lives of others. Further, I have worked in higher education for 21 years advising students within a variety of different contexts, including counseling & psychological services, emphasizing interpersonal, team & inter-group relations. I have completed specialized trainings in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) through the Institute for Creative Mindfulness for alleviation of stored trauma in our brains & nervous systems, alternative dispute resolution & mediation from the International Ombuds Association & Orange County’s Human Relations Commission, and Certified Bereavement Facilitator training through Glendale Adventist’s Beyond Loss Bereavement Program, & Council Facilitator Training through Los Angeles’ Center for Council, to name a few.
I am a personable, interactive, & compassionate therapist whose approach is to provide support & practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. Therapy is a collaborative process designed to bring about relief. I work with each individual & relationship to help them build on their strengths & attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. I have counseled a variety of populations and cultures, and I am committed to inclusivity and affirming all the ways in which people identify and relate to the world and one another.
I’m a member of California Association of Marriage Family Therapists, at the state level as well as regionally with the San Gabriel Valley chapter. If you are looking for support and guidance through a difficult situation or transition, I would be honored to journey with you to facilitate the most peace possible, internally and with important others.
